AFA 101  or a course in political science or consent of instructor. (3) US.

Examination of issues of civil and political rights such as the Voting Rights Act, segregation, gender and ethnic relations in the US, and implications for democracy.  Key Supreme Court decisions such as Brown v. Board and contributions of civil rights leaders such as Martin Luther King, Jr., Thurgood Marshall and Rosa Parks discussed in the broader context of African American and diaspora experiences.
