Exploration of the construction and transformation of gender and sexual norms for women and men in Europe from 1789 to 1989. Special attention paid to the family, women’s rights movements, the intersection of gender, class and race, and the impact of wars and revolutions on the status of women and conceptions of gender and sexuality.  Not open to students with credit for HIS 384 .
