Students expand on the concept that health is a state of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well being, not merely the absence of disease. These concepts are explored as they relate to individuals, families, community and cultural groups. Theories from physical, behavioral and social sciences as they relate to evidence based health promotion, illness prevention, diagnosis and management of common acute/chronic episodic health problems and issues for the adolescent, adult and older adult are the major foci of this course. Special attention to problems endemic to underserved populations with health disparities will be included.
