Exploration of the “application” of ethics to a broad range of contemporary public health issues. Discussion of public health policies and actions at the population level which address concepts of individual well-being, as well as epidemics occurring at the global level that can potentially affect all countries. Ways scientific considerations often blend with social, political and ethical conflicts. Questions of autonomy, individual rights, coercion, justice, community, the common good, and norms of research. Intercultural issues, viewed through the intersection of race, gender and class. Not open to students with credit for HCR 304 .
