Examination of the contributions Black Arts Movement of the 1960s and early 1970s to US cultural landscape and diversity; particular attention to issues of race, ethnicity, class and gender identity. Critically interrogates the creative works of leading black writers, poets, novelists and dramatists of the Arts Movement including those of Larry Neal, Maya Angelou, LeRoi Jones/Amiri Baraka, Harold Cruise, T. Morrison and Nikki Giovanni. May be used to satisfy general education or BA distribution requirements, but not both. Also listed as THE 312 . Graded ABCDE Offered Infrequently.
