Investigation of the formation of the Great Lakes nearly two billion years ago, characterized by major volcanic activity, geologic stresses, and glaciers up to 6,500 feet thick that moved over the region and eventually melted to form the lakes.  Focus on events and landforms which created the physical geography and geology, climate and water systems of this unique region, with special attention to each peninsula’s landscapes, landmarks and aesthetic beauty.
