Systematic study of effective communication techniques, strategies for establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with families, and positive involvement techniques to be used with parents and parent figures of normal and exceptional children. Examination of factors such as socioeconomic conditions, ethnicity, culture, and language as they influence the self-definition of parents and their goals for children. Specific sessions devoted to working with parents of exceptional children. Graded ABCDE Offered infrequently.
