Investigation of promising energy storage principles and technologies such as modern rechargeable batteries, and how they can affect the future of the transportation and power sectors. Fundamentals of battery science and design of storage devices that manipulate chemical energy for later conversion to electrical energy using electrochemical cells. Coverage of energy density, fabrication and testing, as well as broader aspects on sustainability and cost effectiveness. Not open to students with credit for AUE 320/SET 320. Graded ABCDE
