Biology of microorganisms with emphasis on prokaryotes and viruses. Lectures include microbial anatomy, physiology, growth, genetics, molecular regulation, and host-microbe interactions. Lab work includes basic culturing, aseptic technique, identification techniques, growth assays, and molecular microbiology techniques. Not open to students with credit for BIO 405 or BIO 406. Lecture and laboratory. Graded ABCDE
