The in Data Analytics Bachelor of Science program prepares students to become analytical professionals and decision makers who are adept at cleaning, visualizing and analyzing data to solve real-world problems. The program trains students in the analysis of data, in knowledge of a discipline of their choice, and in the application of data analysis skills to their chosen disciplines.
The program is structured in three segments: (i) a common core to build essential skills of data analysis and communication with data, (ii) discipline-specific courses to specialize in a particular area of knowledge, (iii) and integration of analysis and the discipline. Disciplines available are data science, business, geo-spatial technology, healthcare, and social sciences. Although specific learning outcomes vary by track, upon successful completion of the program, all students will be able to:
- Collect and manage complex and large datasets
- Apply tools and algorithms to generate insights from data
- Effectively communicate information and insights derived from the data
- Assist decision makers in diverse domains with their data processing and analysis needs
- Evaluate the limitations of outcomes derived from data analysis
- Effectively use visualization techniques to communicate with data
- Create impactful reports and visualizations for a technical and non-technical audience
- Utilize technical skills in information technology, computer science, and statistics for solving problems and decision making
