Africana Studies BA

All majors are encouraged to meet with their Africana Studies advisors at least twice during each semester or term that they are enrolled. Students may choose from a wide range of special topic courses, such as AFA 391 , AFA 395 , or AFA 396 , to round out their course of study.

Requirements. Completion of 33 credits distributed as follows:

  1. Introductory Courses (6 credits).

  2. History and Literature (9 credits).

  8. All requirements of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Bachelor of Arts d egree, including General Education Requirements  and a foreign language requirement, in a foreign language recognized as being related to the African experience. These include: Arabic, Ewe, French, German, Portuguese, Spanish, Swahili, Twi, Yoruba, or other appropriate languages when offered. (Some of the applicable foreign languages are not offered at UM-Flint. This  equirement can be met through transfer credits and/or test results from other schools.
