Requirements. Fifty-four credits, to include:
- Introduction to social sciences (3 credits). SST 201 .
- Core disciplinary sequences (48 credits).
1. Economics. ECN 201 , ECN 202 , ECN 380 (9 cr.).
2. Geography. GEO 115 , GEO 116 , GEO 216 (9 cr.).
3. U.S. and world history. HIS 112 , HIS 113 , HIS 114 , HIS 220 , HIS 221 with grades of B (3.0) or higher (15 cr.).
4. Michigan history. HIS 329 (3 cr.).
5. Political science. POL 120 , POL 190 , POL 310 (9 cr.).
6. Impact of technology on society. SOC 203 (3 cr.).
- Social studies capstone (3 credits). SST 301 .
- A grade point average of 3.0 or higher in the content courses is required for admission to the Education School.
- All requirements of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Bachelor of Arts degree, including distribution requirements in addition to General Education requirements .
- All requirements of Secondary Education Teacher’s Certificate Programs .
Note: This program is a Comprehensive Group Major; no teacher’s certificate minor is required.
