Prerequisite. Completion of FRN 212 or equivalent proficiency as demonstrated by examination.
Requirements.
- Twenty-eight credits in French beyond the level of FRN 212 , to include the following:
- FRN 291 , FRN 301 , FRN 303 , FRN 309 , FRN 310 , FRN 311 , FRN 314 (19 credits).
- At least nine additional credits in French language and/or literature with a maximum of 3 credits from FFS courses.
- All requirements of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Bachelor of Arts degree, including General Education requirements and additional BA distribution requirements.
Cognate Requirements.
- A western civilization or equivalent history course approved by the advisor and a course in French history.
- A course in English or comparative literature to be approved by the advisor.
Prospective majors who enter with a substantial part of their introductory language completed in high school and those who intend to do graduate work in French are strongly advised to begin a second language as early as possible in their college programs.
Students in this program are strongly encouraged to study in a French-speaking country. See faculty advisors for recommendations of foreign study programs.
