History General Program (BA)

History Department information  

For a Bachelor of Arts degree with a concentration in history, the student is expected to complete a balanced program of studies in history, the other social sciences, and the humanities as approved by the advisor.

Requirements.

  1. Thirty-three or more credits in history, to include:
    1. Two from: HIS 112 , HIS 113 HIS 114 .
    2. HIS 220 , HIS 221 , HIS 299 .
    3. One from: HIS 336 , HIS 339 , HIS 343 , HIS 371 , HIS 376 , HIS 377 , HIS 378 , HIS 380 , HIS 477 .
    4. Four additional courses, selected with the approval of the departmental advisor, from:
      North America.  HIS 314 , HIS 315 , HIS 316 , HIS 317 , HIS 318 , HIS 320 , HIS 321 , HIS 332 , HIS 333 , HIS 334 , HIS 369 , HIS 381 , HIS 409 , HIS 410 , HIS 411 , HIS 413 , HIS 415 , HIS 419 , HIS 428 , HIS 430 , HIS 431 , HIS 435 .
      Europe/England/Russia. HIS 325 , HIS 326 , HIS 351 , HIS 352 , HIS 357 , HIS 360 , HIS 364 , HIS 367 , HIS 372 , HIS 373 , HIS 374 , HIS 382 , HIS 384 , HIS 394 , HIS 399 , HIS 400 , HIS 401 .
      Asia/Africa/Mexico/Latin America. HIS 332 , HIS 336 , HIS 339 , HIS 343 , HIS 371 , HIS 376 , HIS 377 , HIS 378 , HIS 380 , HIS 477 .
    5. HIS 301 , normally elected in the senior year.
  2. During the third and fourth year at least nine credits in cognates chosen from the social sciences or the humanities with the approval of the advisor; to include two courses at the advanced level in a single discipline.
  3. All requirements of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Bachelor of Arts  degree, including General Education requirements  and additional BA distribution requirements.  

Minimum Credits For the Degree. 120 credits
