Admission

A minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and a minimum GPA of 3.0 in computer science and information systems courses is required for acceptance into the BS/MS program. The student interested in the BS/MS program should apply junior year. Upon completion of the requirements for the BS portion of the program, the student is awarded the BS degree. Upon completion of the remaining 21 credits in the MS in CSIS program, the student is awarded the MS degree.

Requirements

All requirements of the College of Arts and Science Bachelor of Science degree, including General Education requirements.

A. Bachelor of Science

All requirements of the Computer Science General Program (BS) or the Computer Information Systems Program (BS) with the exception that the students elects 9 credits at the graduate level to satisfy the undergraduate elective course requirements. Track option courses shall be determined in consultation with the student’s faculty advisor.

B. Master of Science

To complete the requirements for the Master of Science in Computer Science and Information Systems the student completes 21 additional graduate credits after the 124 credits required for the BS degree as follows:

Computer Science Concentration

CSC 535 - Advanced Computer Networking (3).
CSC 565 - Computer System Architecture (3).
CSC 575 - Algorithm and Complexity Analysis (3).
CSC 582 - Advanced Database Concepts and Emerging Applications (3).
Nine additional credits in CSC courses at the graduate level, which may include:
CSC 595 - Master’s Thesis I (3).
CSC 596 - Master’s Thesis II (3).

Computer Information Systems Concentration

Six credits from:
CSC 535 - Advanced Computer Networking (3).
CSC 580 - Advanced Software Engineering (3).
CSC 582 - Advanced Database Concepts and Emerging Applications (3).
Nine credits of designated electives from the Business Information Systems Track or the Health Systems Track:
Business Information Systems Track

EIM 545 - Entrepreneurship (3).
FIN 551 - Business Economics (3).
INB 585 - Global Dimensions of Management (3).
SCM 512 - Applied Quantitative Analysis (3).
