School of Nursing (SON)

The University of Michigan-Flint School of Nursing Undergraduate Certificate in Nursing Leadership and Management is designed for the student completing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree through either the RN to BSN, Traditional BSN, or Accelerated Second Degree BSN program. The certificate will prepare students for positions of leadership in their organizations.

Admission

Prospective students must file an application to the University of Michigan-Flint through the University’s Office of Undergraduate admissions. (http://www.umflint.edu/admissions) and be admitted to either the RN to BSN, Traditional BSN, or Accelerated Second Degree BSN program. Official copies of transcripts must be sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. RN to BSN program students must also provide proof of an unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the United States which must be validated in order to progress into select nursing courses and complete all certificate requirements.

The Undergraduate Certificate in Nursing Leadership and Management requires a minimum of 13 credits. Students must earn grades of C+ (2.3) or better in all coursework to fulfill certificate requirements.

C. Program Assessment

Students are required to participate in periodic program assessment, which enables the School of Nursing to test the efficacy of the curriculum.

D. Additional Requirements

Students are required to successfully complete the BSN program and all certificate requirements in order to be granted the certificate upon graduation from the University of Michigan-Flint.
