Communication Studies (COM) information
The General Program in Communication Studies offers students liberal arts coursework as a supporting program for careers in communication, including but not limited to communication training and development, media, law and public relations, as well as graduate study.

Requirements
No more than 50 credits in Communication may be counted towards the BA degree.

To increase the student’s ability to understand and apply Communication and to see its interdisciplinary nature, a block of courses outside the Communication program, fulfilled in any of the following ways:
- Four courses (12 credits), chosen with the approval of the student’s advisor, in one or more disciplines.
- A certificate.
- A minor.
- A second major.
E. Additional Requirements
- All requirements of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Bachelor of Arts degree, including General Education and additional BA distribution requirements .
- At least 25 hours of coursework toward the major taken at UM-Flint
- A GPA of at least 2.5 in the major at time of graduation.
Minimum Credits for the Degree: 120 credits
Honors Program Requirements
Prospective Honors Program students are required to complete all of the above Communication requirements and University of Michigan-Flint Honors Program requirements.
Honors Program students are urged to acquaint themselves as early as possible with the requirements above as well as with the particular procedures for acceptance into the Communication Honors Program. See the Communication Honors Advisor or the Honors Program Director for this information.
