Biochemistry Program (BS)


Biochemistry is the study of the chemistry of life.  Curriculum in this program is designed to support students interested in fields including biotechnology, drug discovery, cancer research, applied medical research, etc.  This degree prepares students for the job market or further graduate training depending on the individual’s preference.  Additionally, a degree in Biochemistry develops students for careers in the professional field of medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy through tailored concentrations designed to prepare students for entrance-exams and professional school coursework.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 in CHM courses.
  • Minimum of 25 credits in chemistry at the 300 level or higher taken at UM-Flint.
  • All requirements of the College of Innovation and Technology  (CIT) Bachelor of Science degree, including General Education requirements . (Please see faculty advisor to select complimentary General Education courses.)


Minimum Credits for the Degree: 120 credits

Honors Program


All bachelor-degree-seeking students with GPAs of 3.5 or higher are eligible to apply to the University of Michigan-Flint Honors Program . Please contact the Honors Program Manager or the Honors Program Director for further information.
