Interaction Design Certificate

Art and Art History (ART/ARH) information 

Interaction design involves the creation of a dialog between people, environments and communications incountered in everyday human experience.  This area of study offers students the opportunity to investigate the most quickly evolving art forms in visual media, including game, web, and digital design.  The certifcate is for those who seek introduction to evolving world of interactive and web design, offering courses in design-thinking, user experience, and emerging media, in order to further the skills of the designer.  Certificate-seeking students may not also obtain the Interaction Design minor, or the Interaction Design specialization in the Art and Design major. 

The certificate may be earned in conjunction with a degree program or as a stand-alone credential.  (Students pursuing a stand-alone credential are not eligible for federal financial aid and may not participate in Commencement.)  After the student applies for graduation, the certificate is posted to the student’s official transcript and an official diploma stating the area of the certificate is issued.

Additional Requirements


A minimum of 9 credits in the program must be completed at UM-Flint. 

Coursework older than 3 years must be reviewed by the Fine and Performing Arts Department for content alignment with current certificate requirements.
