Music Composition Minor

Music composition is generally recognized as a growing field in music, with applications to websites, gaming, commercial advertising, and other media outlets. The Music Composition Minor is designed to allow students to investigate traditional and popular styles of composing music, to explore opportunities in today’s changing world of media, and to create their own music.

B. Keyboard Skills (0-2 credits)

MUS 130 - Keyboard Skills II (1) , with a grade of B (3.0) or better
Equivalent proficiency as demonstrated by examination

C. Applied Music (4 credits)

MUS 151 - Applied Music I (2)
MUS 152 - Applied Music II (2)

D. Performance Ensembles (7 credits)

Students enrolled in Applied Music must enroll concurrently in the large ensemble in the applied performance area.
