Biology General Program (BS)

The Bachelor of Science in Biology at UM-Flint provides a strong foundation in the life sciences while allowing flexibility for students to pursue their individual interests and career goals. Graduates are well prepared for a wide range of career paths in biology, as well as for admission into science-based graduate programs and pre-professional health fields.  Students build upon six core biology courses by taking advanced coursework tailored to their goals, whether that means preparing for professional school, graduate research, or immediate entry into the workforce.

Requirements (120 credits)


A. Technology Foundations (4 credits)


B. Biology (44 credits)


At least 44 credits in biology, with no more than 18 below the 300 level, to include:

D. Mathematics (4 credits)


F. Concentration of Choice


Select either the General Concentration or one of the Pre-Health Science concentrations.

General Concentration


Biology electives sufficient to meet 44 credits in BIO, with no more than 14 credits below the 300 level.

Pre-Health Science Concentrations


Pre-Health Science concentrations may include courses that are already required within the program.

G. Additional Requirements


Honors Program


All bachelor-degree-seeking students with GPAs of 3.5 or higher are eligible to apply to the University of Michigan-Flint Honors Program .  Please contact the Honors Program Manager or the Honors Program Director for further information.
