Secondary education minors are designed to complement a student’s primary program of study in teacher education. Secondary education minors do not stand alone as teacher certification programs. To be eligible for teacher certification in the State of Michigan, students must complete a full secondary teacher certification program and meet all state and institutional requirements.
Students who pursue a secondary education minor must:
- Be formally admitted to the secondary teacher certification program.
- Complete all coursework required for the minor in conjunction with their major certification area.
- Satisfy all Michigan Department of Education and university requirements for certification eligibility.
Completion of a secondary education minor without concurrent enrollment in a secondary certification program will not result in teacher certification.
