The demand for health care is increasing, making it essential to train empathetic, ethical, and effective health care managers and administrators. UM-Flint offers students a world-class education that results in professional success, personal advancement, and patient well-being.
Health care administrators and managers work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, physician offices, government agencies, health insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, and more. Their duties vary but can include improving efficiency and quality in delivering health care services, ensuring compliance with ever-changing laws and regulations, recruiting and supervising staff members, creating work schedules, maintaining and securing patient records and other data, managing facility finances, and preparing and monitoring budgets, among many others.
Internship experiences are expected to be completed in person. You will collaborate with the Internship Program Coordinator to identify and secure appropriate placement sites near your geographical area that align with your career goals and meet program requirements.
A limited number of classes may meet in an online synchronous format, which means for those classes, you will have scheduled meeting days and times where you are expected to log in and participate in real time.
