The Early Childhood Trauma and Education Certificate program has been placed on moratorium status and is not currently accepting new students. Students who have already declared this major will be allowed to complete their program.
The certificate in Early Childhood Trauma and Education offers a unique opportunity to learn about children and families across two disciplines. The certificate looks at how children learn, how trauma can impact learning, and what impact trauma has on a “safe learning environment,” as well as how family and communities can help improve a children’s ability to learn and recover from a traumatic experience.
The certificate may be earned in conjunction with a degree program or as a stand-alone credential. (Students pursuing a stand-alone credential are not eligible for federal financial aid and may not participate in Commencement.) After the student applies for graduation, the certificate is posted to the student’s official transcript and an official diploma stating the area of the certificate is issued.
