Arts Administration (Master of Arts)

Program Requirements  The MA in Arts Administration program consists of 36 credit hours (12 courses at 3 credits each) including a core of 15 credits, one of two focus areas (i.e. Museum and Visual Arts; or Performance) each requiring 15 credits, and six credit-hours of electives. It is assumed that students will be able to complete the degree in 4 (full-time) or up to 6 (part-time) semesters.

A.  Core courses (15 credits).
      PUB 502 - Management in Public and Nonprofit Organizations.  (3)
      PUB 506 - Research Methods.  or AMC 500 - Research Foundations.  (3)
      PUB 518 - Budgeting in Public and Nonprofit Organizations.  (3)
      ADM 501 - Museum, Gallery & Performance Administration.  (3)
      ADM 599 - Seminar in Executive Arts Administration.  (3)     

B.  Concentration (15 credits).  One of the following:

      Museum and Visual Arts
     
ADM 505 - Visual Aesthetics, Theory and Criticism.  (3)
      ADM 507 - Art, Ethics and Community Service.  (3)
      ADM 509 - Arts, Marketing and Grant Writing.  (3)
      ADM 579 - Advance Museum and Gallery Management.  (3)
     
ADM 595 - Internship.  (3)

      Performance (Music, Theatre and/or Dance)
     
ADM 504 - Performance Aesthetics, Theory and Criticism.  (3)
      ADM 506 - Production Management and Grant Writing.  (3)
      ADM 508 - Marketing, Audience Development Box Office Management.  (3)
     
ADM 580 - Advanced Production Management.  (3)
     
ADM 595 - Internship.  (3)

C.  Electives (6 credits).
      PUB 504 - Ethical Issues in Public Administration.  (3)
      PUB 520 - Resource Development and Administration.  (3)
      PUB 525 - Legal and Regulatory Issues in Nonprofit Administration.  (3)
      PUB 526 - Staffing Public Sector Organizations.  (3)
      PUB 572 - Work, Occupations and Professions.  (3)
      ADM 590 - Independent Study in Administration.   (3)

D.  Technology.
      Students must have or develop proficiency in a number of computer programs, including but not limited to Word, Adobe, Photoshop and Excel.

Transfer of Credit

Up to six (6) credit hours of graduate credit completed at an accredited institution may be accepted for transfer. Transfers of credit are subject to the approval of the program director.
