AFA 364 - Conflicts and Humanitarian Intervention in Africa

Investigation of major conflicts in post-colonial Africa and the efforts to resolve them by regional and global institutions such as the African Union, Economic Commission of West African States (ECOWAS), United Nations, European Union; and role of US, China and Russia in African conflicts. Implications of armed humanitarian intervention in Libya, Somalia, Cote d’Ivoire and Darfur-Sudan; as well as conflicts with catastrophic human rights violations including Northern Uganda, Rwanda genocide; resource conflicts in Great Lakes and terror violence in the Sahel.
