NUR 865 - Special Topics in Adult-Gerontology Acute Care III-Practicum Consent of instructor. (3)
Foundational experiences in an acute care clinical setting as well as a simulation lab, designed for students to observe concepts discussed in the concurrent theory course and to refine critical thinking and clinical skills required to provide comprehensive physical and functional assessments, apply diagnostic reasoning, and plan evidence-based interventions for young, middle-aged and older adults from diverse populations. Students learn to provide safe, cost-effective, legal and ethical care for adults with acute and critical episodes of common acute and chronic health problems, in a clinical setting emphasizing hematology/oncology, endocrine, surgery/trauma, transplant, critical care pharmacology, and end-of-life issues. Students are required to come to campus for an on-site simulation experience. Graded ABCDE
