NUR 861 - Special Topics in Adult-Gerontology Acute Care I-Practicum Consent of instructor. (3)
Foundational experiences in an acute care clinical setting as well as a simulation lab, designed for students to observe concepts and skills discussed in the concurrent theory course and to refine critical thinking and clinical skills required to provide comprehensive physical and functional assessments, apply diagnostic reasoning, and plan evidence-based interventions for young, middle-aged and older adults from diverse populations. Students learn to provide safe, cost-effective, legal and ethical care for adults with acute and critical episodes of common acute and chronic health problems, in a clinical setting emphasizing common issues in acute and critical care as well as complex neurologic, cardiovascular and pulmonary problems. Students are required to come to campus for an on-site simulation experience. Graded ABCDE
