The Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy (BSRT) program is an online degree designed for practicing respiratory therapists to complete while working. In this degree advancement program, Respiratory Therapists transition from an Associate degree to a Bachelor degree at their own pace or in as little as 12 months with our accelerated program.
The BSRT Program at the University of Michigan-Flint promotes the study of respiratory leadership, administration, education, and advanced respiratory care in specialty areas such as critical care, disease management, and diagnostics. The program prepares graduates to practice as advance clinicians, administrators, educators, and other professional specialties. Additionally, the program prepares students to sit for advanced credentials awarded by the National Board for Respiratory Care which includes Neonatal Pediatric Specialty (NPS), Adult Critical Care Specialty (ACCS), Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist Specialty (RPFT), and Sleep Disorders Specialty (SDS) credentials.
Admission to the Respiratory Therapy Program
Applicants must satisfy the following requirements for consideration:
- Associate degree from a CoARC accredited respiratory therapy program within a regionally accredited institution.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential, awarded by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) who is RRT eligible (Students admitted with CRT must matriculate to RRT before the practicum and capstone courses).
