Dance General Program (BA)

The concentration in Dance provides a concentrated course of study in dance technique, history, composition, design, kinesiology and performance, supplemented by elective options to augment each student’s area of specialty.
Requirements.
A. Cross training and technique (10 credits).
1. Conditioning (3 cr.). DAN 201 .
2. Ballet (3 cr.). DAN 120 , DAN 121 , DAN 122 .
3. Modern dance (3 cr.). DAN 116 , DAN 117 , DAN 118 .
4. Pilates or yoga (1 cr.). DAN 101 .
B. Performance (6 credits). DAN 200 , DAN 225 .
C. Choreography (3 credits). DAN 351 .
D. Dance pedagogy (3 credits). DAN 301 .
E. Design and technical practice (6 credits). THE 217 or THE 255 ; THE 214 or THE 216 or THE 251 .
F. Humanities (9 credits). DAN 204, DAN 300 , THE 300 or THE 301 .
G. Electives (6 credits). Additional upper-level DAN and THE performance courses.
H. Senior capstone (3 credits). DAN 352 or DAN 399 .
I. All requirements of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Bachelor of Arts degree , including General Education requirements and additional BA distribution requirements.
