Spanish General Program (BA)


Foreign Languages and Literatures Department information  

Prospective majors who enter with a substantial part of their introductory language completed in high school and those who intend to do graduate work in Spanish are strongly advised to begin a second language as early as possible in their college programs.

Students in this program are strongly encouraged to study in a Spanish-speaking country. See faculty advisors for recommendations of foreign study programs.

B. Cognates


History and Culture


  • A course in western civilization or equivalent history course approved by the advisor,
  • An additional course in history or culture pertinent to the Spanish-speaking world.

English or Comparative Literature


C. Additional Requirements


All requirements of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Bachelor of Arts  degree, including General Education requirements  and additional BA distribution requirements.


Minimum Credits for the Degree: 120 credits
