The Historic Preservation Minor combines formal classroom learning with a variety of field experiences in which students and faculty work together to develop student skills in research, interpretation and curation of landscapes, buildings and objects of historical significance. Civic engagement and experiential learning are central features of this interdisciplinary program, which draws from history and related fields. The program helps prepare students for careers in which knowledge of preservation of historic sites or public history is beneficial, such as in nonprofit or governmental organizations, museums, archival repositories, and preservation agencies.
