Nursing Case Management Certificate

Case management is a growing specialty practice with healthcare organizations. Case managers play the critical role of achieving value for clients, providers, payors, and regulators as they assess, plan, implement, coordinate, monitor and evaluate options and services required to meet clients’ health and human service needs. Case management is characterized by advocacy, communication, resource management and promotion of quality and cost-effective interventions and outcomes.

The UM-Flint Nursing Case Management Certificate is designed to prepare students for case management positions in a variety of organizations including hospitals, outpatient clinics, insurance companies, and disease management organizations. 

The 13 credit program is available to undergraduate nursing students and can be completed online. Students who have been admitted to the Traditional BSN, Accelerated BSN, or RN to BSN programs are eligible to elect the certificate program during their course of study for the BSN.

B. Additional Requirements


  • Completion of a UM-Flint BSN degree
  • Participation in periodic assessment, which enables the School of Nursing to test the efficacy of the curriculum.
