The Graduate Certificate in Business program is intended primarily for individuals with degrees in areas other than business, who are interested in learning some basic concepts of business or are considering the eventual completion of an MBA. (Students with a bachelor’s in business are encouraged to pursue the MBA program.)
The certificate may be earned in conjunction with a degree program or as a stand-alone credential. (Students pursuing a stand-alone credential are not eligible for federal financial aid and may not participate in Commencement.) After the student applies for graduation, the certificate is posted to the student’s official transcript and an official diploma stating the area of the certificate is issued.
Admission to the Program
Students pursuing certificates in business are admitted to the program using the same criteria as those currently existing for the MBA program with the exception of GMAT or GRE scores. Applicants should have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better in their bachelor’s degree. The applicants must also have completed a college level mathematics, statistics, or quantitative course to be eligible for the program. Applications for admission are available from the School of Management Office, its website, or from the Office of Graduate Programs. Admission to the program is not granted until the application materials are submitted and reviewed.
