Women’s and Gender Studies (WGS) information
The WGS Certificate provides students an opportunity to explore scholarship, creative activities, and activism focusing on women, gender, and/or sexuality as each connects with race, age, ability, class, nationality, and more. WGS courses equip students with critical and analytical thinking, communication, reflection, and perspective taking skills that support success in any major, career, or form of community engagement. The WGS Certificate is open to all students except those who complete the WGS minor.
The certificate may be earned in conjunction with a degree program or as a stand-alone credential. (Students pursuing a stand-alone credential are not eligible for federal financial aid and may not participate in Commencement.) After the student applies for graduation, the certificate is posted to the student’s official transcript and an official diploma stating the area of the certificate is issued.
