Information Literacy and Inquiry Certificate

Given the breadth, depth and speed at which individuals receive information, being able to navigate credibility, bias, reliability and validity of information is a useful skill in everyday life and a valued skill in many careers.  The Information Literacy and Inquiry Certificate gives students important social scientific research skills to locate, evaluate and use information to make decisions and solve problems in a variety of contexts.  Students also gain skills in research design and analyzing and interpreting data.

The certificate is open to all students.  It may be earned in conjunction with a degree program or as a stand-alone credential.  (Students pursuing a stand-alone credential are not eligible for federal financial aid and may not participate in Commencement.)  After the student applies for graduation, the certificate is posted to the student’s official transcript and an official diploma stating the area of the certificate is issued.
