Economics General Program (BA)

A. Foundations (7 credits)

A foreign language course from ARB 112 , ASL 112 , CHN 112 , FRN 112 , GER 112 , SPN 112 ; or successful transfer of the second semester of a foreign language or demonstration of equivalent proficiency by examination

A course in US Diversity (US) or Global Studies (GS)  

B. Economics (33 credits)

Thirty-three credits in economics including:

• ECN 201 - Principles of Economics (Macroeconomics) (3)
• ECN 202 - Principles of Economics (Microeconomics) (3)
• ECN 315 - Intermediate Microeconomic Theory (3)
• ECN 354 - Intermediate Macroeconomic Theory (3)
• ECN 395 - Internship in Applied Economics (3-6)

C. Statistics (3-4 credits)

One from:

• MTH 272 - Applied Statistics and Data I (4)
• PSY 322 - Basic Statistics and Probability (4)
• SOC 215 - General Statistics (3)

D. Mathematics (4 credits)

One from:

• MTH 118 - Applied Calculus (4)
• MTH 120 - Pre-Calculus Mathematics (4)
• MTH 121 - Calculus I (4)

E. Electives (12 credits)

Twelve additional credits in social sciences outside economics or in mathematics.

The social science courses may include one introductory course; additional courses must be numbered 300 or higher.

Students electing mathematics courses must elect MTH 122 , so they should satisfy the Mathematics requirement above with MTH 121 .  Other mathematics courses should be selected with the approval of the advisor and must be beyond the level of MTH 122 ; MTH 272  cannot be used to satisfy this requirement.
