Biology (BIO) information
The Bachelor of Science Program in Human Biology is designed to provide students with a background in human-related biology courses as the focus of a broad and liberal education and in preparation for entrance into a variety of professional programs for healthcare providers. Specific tracks are tailored to serve students interested in careers as a physical therapist, physician assistant, physician or dentist. Students also should consult websites of programs to which they might apply for specific requirements beyond those listed in the tracks below.

Requirements (120 credits)
A. Technology Foundations (4 credits)
Core Courses
Grades of C- (1.7) or better in: Electives
At least eight additional credits in BIO courses numbered 300 or higher C. Foundational Oral Communication (3 credits)
A grade of C (2.0) or better in one from: D. Foundational Written Communication (3 credits)
A grade of C (2.0) or better in: E. Healthcare Delivery to Diverse Cultures (3 credits)
F. Ethics (6 credits)
Grades of C (2.0) or better in: G. General Psychology (3 credits)
H. Statistics (3-4 credits)
H. Concentration of Choice
One of the following concentrations: Pre-Physician Assistant Concentration (24-29 credits)
Pre-Physical Therapy Concentration (29-32 credits)
Pre-Occupational Therapy Concentration (26-28 credits)
Pre-Medical Concentration (50-54 credits)
Pre-Dental Concentration (47-51 credits)
Honors Program
All bachelor-degree-seeking students with GPAs of 3.5 or higher are eligible to apply to the University of Michigan-Flint Honors Program . Please contact the Honors Program Manager or the Honors Program Director for further information. |
