The Bachelor of Science in Economics is intended to provide a more rigorous option for students interested in graduate school, given the quantitative nature of graduate study and the profession in general.

Requirements (124 credits)

A. Economics (36 credits)

At least 36 credits in economics, to include:

ECN 201 - Principles of Economics (Macroeconomics) (3)
ECN 202 - Principles of Economics (Microeconomics) (3)
ECN 315 - Intermediate Microeconomic Theory (3)
ECN 354 - Intermediate Macroeconomic Theory (3)
ECN 480 - Quantitative Methods and Econometrics (3)
With no more than three credits from:
ECN 391 - Directed Reading in Economics (1-3)
ECN 394 - Directed Research in Economics (1-3)
ECN 395 - Internship in Applied Economics (3-6)

B. Statistics (3-4 credits)

MTH 370 - Applied Statistics and Data II (4) (strongly recommended; required for the Data Analytics concentration)
Or one from:
MTH 272 - Applied Statistics and Data I (4)
PSY 322 - Basic Statistics and Probability (4)
SOC 215 - General Statistics (3)

C. Mathematics (8 credits)

MTH 121 - Calculus I (4)
MTH 122 - Calculus II (4)

D. Electives (12 credits)

Twelve additional credits in social sciences outside economics or in mathematics. The social science courses may include one introductory course; additional courses must be numbered 300 or above. Mathematics courses should be selected with the approval of the advisor and must be beyond the level of MTH 122 ; MTH 272 cannot be used to satisfy this requirement.

F. Additional Requirements

All requirements of the College of Arts and Sciences Bachelor of Science degree , including General Education requirements .

Honors Program
