Faculty Advisor - Maximiliano Mendieta, PhD.

Department Director - Shan Parker, PhD.

Fully online and collaboratively offered through our Department of Public Health and Health Sciences (PHHS) and the School of Management (SOM), this innovative Master of Science in Health Care Management looks to continue a strong growth of health care offerings by the University of Michigan-Flint.  The University of Michigan has a storied history of outstanding health care degrees. From Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor to the Doctor of Physical Therapy in Flint, our programs are among the nation’s best in preparing successful physicians, nurses, physical therapists, and other medical leaders. The faculty of the MS in Health Care Management look to continue that same rich legacy by offering this progressive and responsive degree.

This program is designed for mid-level managers from private and non-profit hospital and health care sectors for whom leadership and organizational knowledge and skills are necessary components of professional success and personal advancement.  This 30 credit hour program is organized to be completed part-time in as few as 22 months. Students may also have the option to complete it in a shorter time frame if they attend full-time.

Students will learn not only state-of-the-art practical underpinnings of health care management, but also how to implement proven foundational concepts and frameworks through simulated “real world” applications and exercises.  Graduates of this program will have the knowledge to improve patient and organizational outcomes while employing leadership practices that will lead their organizations to success in their respective health care segments of the economy.

  • Students who graduate from this program will not only complete a master’s degree, but may qualify for an SOM business certificate.
