Mission

The University of Michigan-Flint Honors Program offers academically motivated scholars educational learning opportunities that are deeper, broader, and more complex than a traditional university learning experience, through rigorous coursework, scholarship, experiential learning, service learning, community service, close mentorship with faculty, professional development, and with a focus on student centeredness that emphasizes personal growth.

Vision

The Honors Program at the University of Michigan-Flint will stand out as an interdisciplinary, inclusive community of scholars by:

  • providing enriched academic experiences, including rigorous coursework that emphasizes the importance of diverse perspectives, hones critical thinking skills, and prepares students to be consumers and producers of research
  • emphasizing personal and social responsibility and nurturing civic and community-engaged students
  • promoting personal well-being and growth for success throughout students’ education and post graduation journey.

Goals

The Program goals are tied directly to the three pillars of the Honors Program: Rigorous academics, Personal and social responsibility, and Preparation for life post graduation.

  • Students will graduate the program with mastery of content knowledge, intellectual curiosity, the ability to think innovatively and work collaboratively, with the ability to consume and produce research.

  • Honors program students will develop personal and social responsibility.

  • Students will complete the Honors Program prepared for post-graduation success.
