Integrated Social Sciences (BA)

The Integrated Social Sciences program is designed to introduce students to the study of people and their economic, social, and political institutions. These are approached through the data, theories, and methods that characterize the disciplines of anthropology, economics, geography, history, political science, psychology, and sociology. Intensive work in three of these disciplines gives the student a broad view of the social sciences as a whole while allowing for preparation in areas of special interest.

Requirements


At least 42 credits in the social sciences as follows:

A. Discipline of Emphasis (21-22 credits)


One of the following:

Anthropology (21 credits)


At least 21 credits in ANT courses

Economics (21 credits)


At least 21 credits in ECN courses

History (21 credits)


At least 21 credits in HIS courses

Political Science (21 credits)


At least 21 credits in POL courses

Psychology (22 credits)


Sociology (21 credits)


At least 21 credits in SOC courses

B. Secondary Disciplines (18 credits)


A minimum of nine credits in each of two additional disciplines, selected from those listed above.

C. Capstone (3-4 credits)


A capstone course in the discipline of primary or secondary emphasis, along with any prerequisites.

D. Additional Requirements


A grade point average of 2.0 or better within the concentration, based on the 42-44 required credits in social sciences.

All requirements of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Bachelor of Arts  degree, including General Education  and additional BA distribution requirements .

 

Minimum Credits for the Degree: 120 credits
