Linguistics (LIN) information
The Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Certificate prepares students with knowledge and pedagogical skills to teach English as an additional language. The program includes a practicum where students will gain experience teaching English. There are many opportunities to teach English and this certificate is designed for students seeking opportunities to teach locally or internationally. This certificate does not lead to a state teacher certification or state endorsement.
The certificate may be earned in conjunction with a degree program or as a stand-alone credential. (Students pursuing a stand-alone credential are not eligible for federal financial aid and may not participate in Commencement.) After the student applies for graduation, the certificate is posted to the student’s official transcript and an official diploma stating the area of the certificate is issued.
