Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Simulation (Currently on Moratorium)

The Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Simulation program has been placed on moratorium status and is not currently accepting new students.  Students who have already declared this certificate will be allowed to complete their program.

Healthcare simulation is growing as an educational pedagogy and includes a range of activities that share a broad, similar purpose - to improve the safety, effectiveness and efficiency of healthcare services. The School of Nursing graduate certificate program in healthcare simulation prepares students for healthcare simulation educator and staff positions in a variety of organizations including hospitals, health care systems, universities, community colleges, and those organizations responsible for emergency preparedness of first responders.  Upon completion of the coursework and the required number of practice hours in healthcare simulation, the student is prepared to take a national certification exam as a certified healthcare simulation educator (CHSE) or a certified healthcare simulation operations specialist (CHSOS), both offered by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare.

The certificate may be earned in conjunction with a degree program or as a stand-alone credential.  (Students pursuing a stand-alone credential are not eligible for federal financial aid and may not participate in Commencement.)  After the student applies for graduation, the certificate is posted to the student’s official transcript and an official diploma stating the area of the certificate is issued.
