GIS and Geospatial Technology Certificate

Geography, Planning and Environment Department Information

The University of Michigan-Flint’s undergraduate certificate program in GIS and Geospatial Technology Certificate is designed to help meet the continued demand for geospatial and cartographic professionals. The program offers a blend of hands-on training and face-to-face learning. The certificate provides students a suite of spatial analysis, database management, and mapping tool-sets which will improve their ability to understand and analyze complex spatial and non-spatial problems in nearly any discipline. Students leaving the program will be well-equipped to enter the geospatial industry or graduate school.

The certificate may be earned in conjunction with a degree program or as a stand-alone credential.  (Students pursuing a stand-alone credential are not eligible for federal financial aid and may not participate in Commencement.)  After the student applies for graduation, the certificate is posted to the student’s official transcript and an official diploma stating the area of the certificate is issued.
