Software Engineering Program (BS)


Software engineers design, develop, test and maintain software systems, and enjoy many opportunities for challenging and engaging work.  As industry needs continue to increase, the demand for well-trained graduates is high.  The Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering program prepares graduates to work in this ever-expanding field with a foundational curriculum in computer science, and courses in software engineering focused on artificial intelligence, web applications, architecture, and other areas.

Students in the program gain deep and relevant experience through project-based learning, competency-based assessments, and other innovative approaches to teaching and learning.  Students also develop important soft skills requested by industry including emotional intelligence, effective communication, critical thinking, collaboration, cultural awareness, and self-directed learning. Through active engagement with advisors and faculty mentors, students receive meaningful academic guidance and strong career preparation.

At least twelve additional credits 300 level or above in CIS, CIT, CSC, CYB, ITI, SWE.

Additional Requirements


All requirements of the College of Innovation and Technology Bachelor of Science degree, including General Education , and all University of Michigan-Flint graduation requirements.

Minimum Credits for the Degree: 120 credits
