Health Sciences/Occupational Therapy 3+3 (BS/OTD)

The Health Sciences BS/Occupational Therapy OTD program is designed for undergraduate Health Sciences students with an interest in pursuing an OTD degree. The curriculum allows students to earn both BS and OTD degrees with potentially 31 fewer credits than if completing the two degrees separately.

The BS curriculum takes place during the first three years of the program. In the fourth year, the student takes Fall and Winter semesters with credits counted jointly for the BS and OTD programs. The OTD program continues in the spring and is completed in years five and six.

The joint program courses of year four are offered primarily in a face-to-face format.

BS/OTD Admission Requirements

Students admitted to the University of Michigan-Flint may declare the BS/OTD dual program.  Students are required to maintain a 3.3 GPA starting with the Fall semester of the sophomore year in the program.  Those students who do not maintain the required GPA may transfer into the traditional 4-year track within the BS in Health Sciences program or into another bachelor’s program they qualify to pursue.

However, maintaining good standing (GPA of 3.3 or higher) in the program does not guarantee admission to the Doctor of Occupational Therapy program. Admission requirements for the Occupational Therapy Program remain the same for all applicants and can be found here
