MTH 306 - Introduction to Data Science

MTH 220 with a grade of C (2.0) or better; some knowledge of computer programming. (3)

Overview of data science, including a broad selection of key challenges in and methodologies for working with big data. Topics include data collection, integration, management, statistical analysis, visualization, prediction and informed decision-making, as well as an introduction to machine learning algorithms. Students acquire a working knowledge of data science through hands-on projects and case studies in a variety of business, engineering, social science, or life science domains. Graded ABCDE
