Wellness techniques and strategies for professionals in health and human services supporting those anticipating or experiencing loss. Overview of grief support, including basic principles of grief theory and the many types of loss, common reactions, manifestations and myths. A holistic emphasis involving emotional, relational, cognitive, social, physical, and spiritual concerns in the face of loss. Understanding challenges related to self-awareness, self-care, and boundaries in supporting those who grieve. Coaching skills including verbal and non-verbal communication and the use of coaching techniques when exploring wellness activities for self-care, positive reframing and reasonable hope to those in need. Not open to students with credit for AGE 379 . Graded ABCDE
