Physics Teacher’s Certificate

The Teacher’s Certificate Program is designed for students who plan to teach physics in high school.
Prerequisites. (32 credits).
- PHY 243 , PHY 245 , PHY 343 (13 credits).
- CHM 260 , CHM 261 (4 credits).
- MTH 121 , MTH 122 , MTH 220 , MTH 222 , (15 credits).
Students should begin the sequence MTH 121 -MTH 122 in the freshman year in order to meet the corequisite for PHY 245 without delay.
Requirements. (28 credits).
- PHY 321 or PHY 323 , PHY 333 , PHY 344 , PHY 433 . (13 credits).
- MTH 305 , EDS 344 , PHL 312 (9 credits).
- Six additional credits from: PHY 291 , PHY 322 , PHY 354 , PHY 363 , PHY 374 , PHY 375 , PHY 391 , PHY 433 ,PHY 470 .
- Service as a laboratory assistant for one semester in PHY 110 and one other course.
- All requirements of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Bachelor of Arts degree, including General Education Requirements and a foreign language.
Students in this program are urged to elect PHY 110 ; AST 131 , AST 133 , CHM 162 , CHM 163 or CHM 165 , and CSC 175 / CIS 175 or CIS 275 / CSC 275 .
